Friends,
Almost a month ago Jessica and I became engaged. As is a tradition in many families, my parents requested that we put together an engagement announcement for my hometown newspaper, the Omaha World Herald. Last night, we went online, filled out the proper forms and submitted them.
My father followed up with the paper this morning to be sure everything would be taken care of, and was told by the Omaha World Herald that they have a policy of NOT publishing same-gender annoucements. Jessica and I were shocked. It never even crossed our minds that we would be met with this response.
We know we’re probably not the first to hear this news - but we would really like to be the last. Please help us end this outdated and discriminatory policy by contacing the Omaha World Herald at 402-444-1000 or pulse@owh.com and telling them this isn’t right.
